Sail Training Program
The Sail Training Program provides the following:
- Try Sailing. This course is available for both members and non-members, Youth and Adults beginners on Saturday mornings when Sail Training is in progress between 0930 and noon. A small team of club members will be available to assist newcomers to 'try out' sailing, to get a taste of sailing thrills and see if they wish to enrol for the more formalised training in the which starts later in the season. Bookings essential.
- Fun Sailing - This Y.A. course for young people is designed to give them confidence on the water and to encourage their sailing interst.
- Learn to Sail - Youth. Basic Skills 1 and 2 training is available for young sailors who have been introduced to sailing (see above), who are 8-10 years or older and wish to enrol. This 2 day course is held in January and an assessment will be made as to which future course is most suitable.
- Learn to Sail l - Adults. Basic Skills 1 & 2 training is available for Adult Sailors, who have been introduced to sailing (see above) and wish to enrol. This training will take place on each Sunday in February between 0900 and noon
- Better Sailing 3 - Youth and Adults. This course is available for beginners who have achieved Basic Skills 2 last season.
- Learn to Race 4 and Race Practice - Youth and Adults. Racing Skills 4 and 5 training is available on each Saturday morning from 0930 to noon commencing Febuary. Sailors who complete Better Sailing and who wish to learn more about sailing or hone their racing skills are welcome to attend this training session. Students will need to have their own boat for this course.
The syllabus for Basic Skills Levels 1and 2, Better Sailing Level 3 and Racing Skills Levels 4 and 5 is listed in the Yachting Australia - Small Boat Sailing Log Book, available from the Administrator for $10.
Registration for the Learn to Sail Group - Youth and Adults and the Learn to Race Group (as defined above ) will be on the first day of their respective programs. Prior registration is recommended - registration forms are available from the Club reception desk.
